When dealer Art Spindle discovers a late and unknown Mondrian masterpiece in private hands, he thinks he's about to make the deal of a lifetime. But in the cut-throat, incestuous world of that bastion of capitalism - the New York art scene - nothing is ever going to be that easy.

The characters in Danny Moynihan's satirical comedy of manners dance in a series of interconnected scenes run-ins with manipulative dealers, ruthlessly honest artists, delusional butlers and despotic millionaires - but who will win the race to find the hottest new artist, the most talked-about show, the most outrageous sexcapade, the most important sale?

"High-rolling parties, high-octane sex, high-voltage deals and the occasional flash of brilliance - the wild world of transatlantic art is revealed in Danny Moynihan's first novel." Vogue

"Danny Moynihan's entertaining comedy-of-manners novel about the New York art scene...a world which is a sitting target for the satirist, and although Tom Wolfe came close to getting it right in The Painted Word . .. Danny Moynihan has a better pedigree. ...you might think these characters were unreal and a little two-dimensional, but anyone with a passing acquaintance with their real-life counterparts - Larry, Charles, Cy, Damien, et al - will know they ring true ... Once you get going it's hard to stop." Ian Dunlop, The Spectator

"Moynihan's first novel is spectacular stuff a frothy yet dark fiction about the New York art scene. It's fast, snappy, funny and sick ... The writing is as clean and clinical as Hirst's medicine chests, but never dull." Harriet Lane, The Observer

"...a large ensemble cast of priceless caricatures expertly planted by Danny Moynihan amid the starry firmament of New York's real life art-scene...Boogie-Woogie is a highly enjoyable satire." Marina Benjamin, Evening Standard

"I had always assumed that the New York art world was driven entirely by money. But according to this sophisticated satire, most of the Art Pack is equally driven by sex. This witty satire stitches real names, from Warhol downwards, to a fictional collage of sexual deviants, attention seekers and would-be murderers who, one assumes, are only marginally less weird than their real-life counterparts. ...(An) excellent first novel." Georgia Metcalfe, Daily Mail

"This is a mature and very funny satire. ...Moynihan has an assured control of narrative and dialogue...and plays teasingly with chronology. ...(A) flamboyantly funny novel." Paul Levy, Times Literary Supplement

"The international art scene was a novel waiting to happen. And now it has.... Set in Nineties' Manhattan, Boogie-Woogie shimmies between the lives of 12 fictional but ominously recognisable characters. There are grasping art collectors; silicone-enhanced wives; reptilian dealers; designer-clad gallery girls; and an abundance of artists, both amusing and abusing, all set within an intricate time scheme, which spans both a day and a year. Like the Mondrian painting that crops up as one of the book's sub-plots, forms part of its title and provides the underlying image for Hirst's 'Artopoly' cover, Boogie-Woogie seethes with action, incident, energy and a very contemporary sense of the grotesque." Louisa Buck, Esquire

"An impressive debut, stylishly written and packed with sly in-jokes." Simon Shaw, Mail on Sunday

"Moynihan writes in scalpel-sharp language, with a ferociously accurate ear for dialogue.... This modish, gossipy first novel is clever, competent and cool." Jessica Mann, Sunday Telegraph

"The tale is subversive, darkly funny, full of underhand, behind-the-scenes, between-the-sheets trickery, a story of grotesque deception and illusion that romps along at a cracking pace, carving through characters and reputations with all the horribly smooth efficiency of a bacon-slicing machine.... It is not a particularly pretty story. It is harsh and nasty; and it sounds devastatingly accurate." Joanna Pitman, The Times

BoogieWoogie edition by Danny Moynihan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book took me longer than I wanted it too. If you are a fan of the art world and enjoy sarcastic verbiage, then this is the book for you. There was a bit too much of a focus on graphic sex and that really isn't my thing to read.
